Cranbrook, BC --  Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced the club has reduced their Training Camp roster to 31 players.

The ICE are eligible to return 19 veteran players and are now carrying four goaltenders, nine defencemen and 18 forwards.  Of those, eight are attending NHL Camps (Brayden McNabb – Buffalo, Drew Czerwonka – Edmonton, Max Reinhart – Calgary, Joey Leach – Calgary, Matt Fraser – Vancouver, Kevin King – Dallas, Steele Boomer – Chicago, Hayden Rintoul - Florida)

The first home action for the ICE will be an exhibition game on Thursday, September 16 against the Tri-City Americans at 7:00 pm.  Tickets will be available on Thursday, September 9 and will be $8 for 12 and under and $11 for 13 and older.

The Kootenay ICE are excited and pleased to announce they have 100 more tickets to the

Rockstar Outdoor Hockey Classic in Spokane.  This outdoor hockey game will be played at Avista Stadium in Spokane, WA on Saturday, January 15^th 2011 at 1:00 pm.

Avista Stadium has a seating capacity of 6,800 and as a valued Kootenay ICE fan you will have an opportunity to purchase tickets well before the general public. Defenseman Brayden McNabb will be attending the Buffalo Sabres Camp and Drew Czerwonka will be participating in the Edmonton Oilers Camp while Max Reinhart and Joey Leach will be attending the Calgary Flames Camp.  In addition, Matt Fraser (Vancouver), Kevin King (Dallas), Steele Boomer (Chicago) and Hayden Rintoul (Florida) have all been invited to attend NHL Training Camps in September.

“It is very rewarding for any player to attend an NHL Training Camp.  All eight of these players have a strong work ethic both on and off the ice and it will be a great learning experience which will hopefully carry into the upcoming season”,  added Chynoweth.

Kootenay ICE Training Camp starts on Thursday at 10:00 am with the returning veterans practicing at the Rec Plex.

Calgary, AB – Garnet Kazuik, Director of Scouting for the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club today announced the club has selected 11 players in the 21^st annual WHL Bantam Draft.  The 2010 WHL Bantam Draft was for players born in 1995 and playing in the four Western Provinces and selected regions of the United States.  All of the players selected today are at least one year away from playing regularly in the WHL.

“We are very happy with the selections we made today.  We added speed and skill which we felt was very important to our success on the ice.  Overall, we know that our picks still have two to three years to develop and become great players within our organization,” commented Kazuik.
