Weekly ICE Report - Edition #20

ICE CHIPS:  The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 34-17-3-2 record (17-7-2-1 at home, 17-10-1-1 on the road, 4-3 in overtime, 4-2 in shootouts) and in fourth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and sixth place overall in the WHL…The ICE will finish the 2009-2010 regular season with an above .500 record for the 11th consecutive season, which is the longest active streak in the WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE…KOOTENAY is 29-6-3-2 since October 30th…THE ICE will play four of their next five games at home.

 

FAMILY PACKS:  The ICE have FAMILY PACKS on sale for the remaining Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday home games during the 2009-2010 season…FAMILY PACKS are $45.00 and include two adult tickets, two youth or student tickets, a parking voucher, a game program voucher, and two McDonald Happy Meal vouchers…For more information, or to purchase a FAMILY PACK, call or visit the KOOTENAY ICE Office.


SUPER SEVEN FLEX PAKS:  The sale of SUPER SEVEN FLEX PAKS continues…You get seven game certificates to use at your convenience – total flexibility…SUPER SEVEN FLEX PAKS are available in Adult, Senior, Student and Youth packages.  Adults are $99.00, Seniors $81.00, Students $81.00 and Youth $57.00.

 

SAVE ON FOODS:  The KOOTENAY ICE and SAVE ON FOODS are pleased to announce the 2009-2010 SAVE ON FOODS VOUCHERS are now available…Customers can purchase the ticket vouchers at the CRANBROOK SAVE ON FOODS location for all remaining KOOTENAY ICE regular season home games…Cardholders can pick them up for $14.00 plus gst or for free with the redemption of 8,000 SAVE ON MORE points…Non-Cardholders can get their vouchers for $16.00 plus gst.

 

SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP:  This season KOOTENAY will be facing off against the rest of the CENTRAL DIVISION for a different kind of trophy…The SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP tallies points from head-to-head meetings in the CENTRAL DIVISION and the team with the most points in those head-to-heads at the end of the regular season will be awarded the SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP…Fans can get involved by answering weekly trivia questions to win prizes…To get to the CHALLENGE CUP webpage click on the link at www.kootenayice.net

 

DID YOU KNOW:  KOOTENAY is 23-13-3-2 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE this season…DUSTIN SYLVESTER, who is tied for third in League scoring (29-46-75), is fifth in franchise history for points with  233 (105-128-233, JARRET STOLL – 286, NIGEL DAWES – 272, STEVE DASILVA – 235 and DALE MAHOVSKY – 234)…SYLVESTER is tied for third in the WHL for game winning goals with seven…Goaltender TODD MATHEWS is tied for eighth in the League in save percentage (.908%)…BRAYDEN MCNABB (15-35-50), who needs two more points to reach 100 in his WHL career, is tied for third in the WHL for points by a defenseman…JESSE ISMOND recorded his second hat trick of the season February 6 against REGINA…DOMINIK PACOVSKY needs to play in two more games to reach 100 WHL career games played…KEVIN KING played in his 250th WHL game on February 5 against BRANDON…STEELE BOOMER, who needs two more points to reach 100 WHL career points, played in his 150th WHL game on February 3 in MOOSE JAW.

 

ONE YEAR AGO:  After 56 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 26-22-2-6, after 57 games 27-22-2-6 and after 58 games 27-23-2-6.

ICE CHIPS:  The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 32-16-2-2 record (17-7-2-1 at home, 15-9-0-1 on the road, 4-1 in overtime, 3-2 in shootouts) and tied fourth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and tied fifth place overall in the WHL…The ICE, who had their franchise record 14 game winning streak snapped January 22 in PRINCE ALBERT (old record was 11 games set twice before – January 2 – 29, 2005 and December 28, 2006 – January 20, 2007) are 27-5-2-2 since October 30th…KOOTENAY, who were unbeaten in a franchise record 15 games (14-0-0-1 record) will play four of their next six games on the road, including five contests against teams from the EAST DIVISION.

DID YOU KNOW:  DUSTIN SYLVESTER, who scored his franchise record 12th career shorthanded goal on January 22 against SASKATOON (previous record was 11 held by DUNCAN MILROY), is tied for third in League scoring (27-45-72)…JAGGER DIRK recorded his first WHL career goal on January 23 against PRINCE ALBERT…MATT FRASER recorded his second career hat trick on January 22 against SASKATOON...STEELE BOOMER, who recorded his first career hat trick on January 20 against SWIFT CURRENT, needs to play in two more games to reach 150 WHL games played… Goaltender TODD MATHEWS, who is tied for eighth in the League in save percentage (.908%), broke the franchise record for most consecutive wins in a row with 11 on January 22 against the BLADES (previous record was ten games held by JEFF GLASS – January 7 – 19, 2005) …BRAYDEN MCNABB (15-34-49) is tied for fourth place in the League for points by a defenseman…KEVIN KING needs to play in three more games to reach 250 WHL games played.

 

SCORING STREAKS:  DUSTIN SYLVESTER (0-7-7), BRAYDEN MCNABB (2-3-5) and STEELE BOOMER (2-2-4) have each recorded at least a point in their last three games.

 

ONE YEAR AGO:  After 52 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 25-20-2-5, after 53 games 25-21-2-5 and after 54 games 26-21-2-5.

There have been over 4,400 tickets sold for the Tuesday, January 26th game against the Brandon Wheat Kings.  Arena capacity is 4,718 including double standing spots.  Tickets are available at the Kootenay ICE Office and Kootenay Collectibles.
